IDS-505 Interdisciplinary Studies in Palliative Care
The purpose of this interdisciplinary web-based course is to educate graduate students about incorporating palliative care as an interdisciplinary approach to care for people with chronic, life limiting illness across the lifespan and health-illness continuum directly and/or indirectly into their discipline or area of practice through collaboration and coordination with those specializing in palliative care. The course addresses a recognized, growing need in health care. Offered in 2 week time frame, P/N according to student's program of study. [2]
IDS-510 Health Care in America
Health Care in America is designed for graduate students who are entering a health care profession. Faculty leaders from across Rush University Medical Center present topics that address contemporary issues in America 's health care system. Examples include the organization and delivery of health services, the economics and financing of health care, the nation's health care workforce, access to and quality of health services, health policy and the public's health, and future directions of America's health care system. The class breaks into interdisciplinary groups to explore these issues in depth through experiential learning. [2]
IDS-515 Geriatric Interdisciplinary Team Training
Principles of interdisciplinary team care are applied to the management of complex, geriatric patients in a variety of settings. Guest faculty from medicine, nursing, social work and health sciences lead case study discussions. Permission of instructor. FA WI SP SU [1-3]
IDS-520 Bioinformatics
This course provides a practical, broad-based foundation in biomedical informatics. Topics in acquisition, analysis, and storage of information in health care, biomedical research, and public health will be presented. The course will primarily use a problem-oriented interactive format to illustrate meaningful applications of information technology. Publicly available large data sets and tools will be used to teach basic techniques in data collection and queries, visual presentation of data, comparative effectiveness analysis, decision support, natural language processing, and genomics. No computer programming skills are required. [2] |
